Command Quick tip:
You can train your dog to respond to any command using any word you choose. For example, "okay" is commonly used as a release command but be cautious—if you're chatting with friends and casually say, "Okay...good night" your dog might take that as an invitation to bolt out the door. For recall, consider using a word like "here" or even a completely unrelated term such as "bonus." The key is to select simple, one or two syllable words that are easy for your dog to understand. For instance, "sit" could become "shift," and "lie down" might be replaced with "ground." Additionally, you can use "break" as a release command instead of "okay." Consistency and clarity in your commands will help your dog learn effectively and respond appropriately in various situations.
Nail Clipping Quick tip:
Play and hold your dogs paws on a regular basis. Don’t allow your dog to take their paw away from you. Have the nail clippers close at hand so you can get your dog used to the process. Teach your dog how to give a paw as well. All this will teach your dog that you are in charge and will hold their paw whenever you like.
